Oh wait, sorry, Edward is born in Gorey and registered as Watson:

No, registered as Lake. Incorrectly indexed as Watson.

Or Mordishel; it's in the townland of Mullinahone, nearish to Cashel. Google Maps knows it not. Apple Maps knows it not.

By the way, I asked a kindly expert on Dublin orphanages about the John and Frank Lake, "orphants" in Blessington in 1901, and she had no trace of them. She suggested that the house might have been an orphanage, and to ask a local heritage group, but I didn't get around to it.

I did find a Robert Lake, a gardener (in one other case I've found, the person was variously described as gardener and land steward) dying in sylvan Coolock in 1893, his wife named as Mary; address is 36 Richmond Road.

Perhaps singular, "orphant" - an obsolete form for orphan.

Is it, though?

Third column from the left, a rake of orphants.
