I may or may not have had a relative who committed suicide, what is the best way to see if this information is true?

Purchase of the death certificate may be of help  :-\
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.
Remember - "They'll be found when they want to be found" !!!

Try looking for a newspaper report.

No information on our local newspaper archive site, this may be due to the death being less than 50 years ago.

I have had a couple in my family & they had an inquest which was reported in the local papers. Teh early ones were commented on in the burial registers.
