Death information
« on: Sunday 08 October 23 09:01 BST (UK) »
Hello
I wonder if you can help

I have found a possible death record for my ancestor Robert  James Clark age 77, born 25/1/1918 Scotland . The death registration date is Aug 1995 Bristol England.

Is the information the same on England's death records as Scotland , for example, name of mother and father and if he is married or widowed and name of informant.

Thank you  :)

Death certificates from England are not as informative as Scotland unfortunately. You will find the date and place of death, full name, age, occupation and cause of death. The informant's name and address, and relationship to the deceased is also included. I think parent's name is only included on the death certificate of a child.

Births Mar 1918
Clark    Robert J    Muxworthy    Barnstaple    5b   542

He appears with dob 25.1.1918 in 1939 war register as James R Clark with parents.

Believe this is the gentleman who died in 1995.

What info do you have re your Robert James Clark born in Scotland, parents, marriage?

Hello
Thank you for your reply.
My Robert James Goodfellow Clarke was born  15/1/1918, Dock Street Glasgow.
I have a lot of information on him from birth , census  records and recently  ww2 Japanese POW,. Sometimes he is just Robert Clark/e  or Robert James Clark/e  however all other information I have found on him is correct.
My brick wall is his  marriage ( if their was one) and his death. I have looked in Scotland death and marriage records for him with no success so far, However had a very possible match in Bristol with the exact DOB and the name Robert James Clark for 1995. I also have a possible marriage  for him in Bristol 1952.
I know he was in Glasgow 1947 staying at my Great Grandparents home who he was brought up with.  He was liberated in 1945. He gave a statement  of the ill treatment that his comrades and he  received at the hands of the Japanese ,and identified the war criminals at the Head police station in Glasgow 1947, so from that information I know he was living in Glasgow at that time. it just after his time I have lost track of what his life was.
Thanks again everyone for your help  :)

I should have mentioned .
He names his grandparents as his parents, They were Mary Moore and James Clarke, however his actual parent was Catherine Clarke their daughter, he was illegitimate. Mary and James  appear  to have brought him up as in the 1921 census  he is recorded as their son.
Im not really sure if he knew Catherine to be his mother. I hope he did.
Mary More and James Clarke are my Great Grandparents.
