Many thanks.  The transcript you have only gives the cemetery.  I can follow this up.  :-)
Is it possible to view the electoral rolls for this year, for her?  This could help me as well.

Not many women appeared on electoral registers at this time.  Most did not get the vote until the  1920's.

Nice to have the Street names.  Tks.
Seems odd that Henry (the son) took to the stage instead of following in his father's footsteps.  Maybe he (the father) died at sea.  That I am not too sure as I have not followed this up yet.  Maybe the son was put off by any such tragedy.

Hi
I do sympathise. I still don't know which death is the right one for my Jane Smith. Though I believe I landed the right one for her husband a few weeks ago :-\
At least the age is right, occupation is right, and location kind of good (his children are in the area later)

From 1881 to 1911 I can only see deaths for ten Mary Jane Smiths born 1821 plus/minus 2 years.
Which makes me think the Easington death may be the lady who had lived in Seaham (thanks to Boo's burial info)

Eight of the other deaths are in Plymouth, Lincolnshire, London, Birmingham (Aston) and Wiltshire. Which seem unlikely locations for your lady, but who knows.
Plus there is the West Derby one in 1904. If only there was a burial online for that one.
Perhaps some of them can be eliminated.

Henry's death would have been between 1861 and 1871 as she is a widow in 1871 living with son Henry 16 yrs and her nephew Charles J. Brandt (who was also a sailor) Stockton, Durham.

Good luck with the certificate.
Sorry, I was just rambling about the difficulty in finding Smith deaths.
There is a partial transcription of the 1853 marriage online, with Henry aged 38
Also the marriage allegation
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:S3HT-6SMQ-BP6

And newspaper announcements of the marriage in July 1853
At Bishopwearmouth, on the 13th inst., Captain Henry Smith to Mary Jane, eldest daughter of Mr J. Bell, Victoria Villa.

If Mary Jane's brother in law was Charles Julius Brandt, born Prussia, was Henry born in Prussia as well? In the UK and Ireland, Masters and Mates Certificates on ancestry there is -
Henry Smith, born 1813, Memiel, Prussia, certificates issued Sunderland in 1852.

Still haven't found a death for him, you would think it would be in the newspapers in the north east, even a Newcastle one perhaps.
