The above is shown on the 1939 Register (  TNA_R39_1225_1225F_002) with her widowed mother Caroline. Ethel's surname is over written with Shove but I can't find a marriage record for them. Ethel died surname recorded as Shove 12 Dec 1998 according to Deceased Online.

Ancestry has Bexley ER's
Ethel W Shove 1957/8/9 and Ethel Winifred or Ethel W Hughes from 1930's to 1960's.
I don't have a subscription to open them. Do you have an address on the burial record?

The death record for Ethel W Shove shows: Gallions View Nh, Pier Way Thamesmead in Reg district Bexley. At 1939 she was at 4 Salisbury Rd.

Ethel W Shove in 1957-9 at 14, Station Road, Bexley. Also at the address is a Victor Stove and Gladys M Pitcher.

Deaths Mar 1978   
SHOVE    VICTOR ALEXANDER    2JE1909    BEXLEY    11   

He appears in Bexley in 1939 with same dob and wife.

Excellent, might be him but he married Beatrice May Borkett Q4 1935 but I guess they could have divorced, at her death she was recorded as a widow? At that time she lived at 22 Hanover Way, Bexleyheath.
Unless you think that Ethel changed her name?
