In 1863 Emma Chapman married Walter Edwards. Both aged 20 on the marriage cert.
My problem is in locating Emma before her marriage.
Her father was Charles Curtis Chapman, aka Charles Chapman, aka Curtis Chapman, a watchmaker/jeweller. My Emma was his third daughter called Emma, and all three survived to get married, but they each had different mothers.
Emma Chapman b 1841 is in the census records with his father's wife Ann, who I think was Ann Herbert who he married in 1839.
The other Emma shows up on censuses at 6 yrs old as Emma Chapmanbury, but her marriage cert lists Charles as her father.
My DNA shows I am related to both my Emma (Edwards) and to the Emma Chapman daughter of Ann whose married name was Emma Short. This is the Emma on the census with Ann and other children Amelia and Charles Curtis jr.
Emma Short had a brother named after his father, Charles Curtis Chapman, and he married Ann Edwards, sister of Walter Edwards who married my Emma.
I found a good tree on A that said Charles sr b 1801 had an earlier marriage to Mary Ann that produced two sons, Curtis and Willis. And that Charles 1801 was the son of Willis Chapman, a surgeon from Lincoln who married Mary Jane Charlotte Warner in London in 1787.
I an struggling with the search function on A to turn up records for all these things, probably in part due to Charles using the aka's
I doubt it's possible, but I would be so grateful if anyone can help me find out about Emma. And also to find out more about Charles Curtis Chapman b 1801, d 1851.
Thanks!
