Hi all,
Thanks for all the stuff guys. I'm leaning towards William who married Nancy Hartley, though the 4 year age discrepancy seems worrying, though many did not know their precise age at that time. The presence of Joseph as a witness strongly points to it anyhow. I am curious whether one of them came to Colne from elsewhere, as there seems to be only one William Lambert born in the vicinity c.1800.
Best wishes,
FG

In 1841, the William LAMBERT married to Nancy HARTLEY is aged 41. (This is probably not rounded down, as presumably it would then say "40". Nancy is 39.)

I'm not convinced that the age on the 1851 census is "57", the "7" is different to others on the page. I think it more likely "51" with the top stroke of the "5" appearing to be the top stroke of a "7". Can't attach an image here, but interested to see what others think.

I'm also not sure that the 1860 death is the correct William LAMBERT. In 1851 the family is on Colne Lane (in the middle of Colne. In 1861 Nancy is on Dockray Square, around the corner from Colne Lane, still in the middle of Colne. The burial on 30 Dec 1860 of William LAMBERT aged 64 at Little Marsden has his abode as High Head, which is some distance from Colne itself.

I notice that there seems to be 2 baptisms for Rosa Margaret LAMBERT, daughter of William (tailor) and Jane LAMBERT. The first at Colne 11 Nov 1827, residence Foulridge. Then there is a baptism for a Rosa Margaret LAMBERT, daughter of William (tailor) and Jane LAMBERT on 11 Nov 1829 (born 20 Sept 1827), residence Earby at Thornton in Craven, Yorks, (baptised on the same day is sister Agnes Matilda).

I agree that William is 51 in 1851 and not 57

1841
William 41
Nancy 39
Hartley 12
Martha Ann 10
Hargreaves 8
Elizabeth 4
Mary Hartley Cook 18

Hartley is named for his mother as it is her maiden name, but what about Hargreaves who is he named for?

Answered my own question I think.

John Lambert, weaver  married Ann Hargraves 24 February 1799 St Bartholomew's Colne

Banns were read 3,10,17 February

This would be William and Joseph's mothers maiden name.

Well done amondg, that's great. So it looks pretty convincing that William, the son of John and Ann LAMBERT, married Nancy HARTLEY in 1827. Still not sure about his death though.
