Help with handwriting
« on: Thursday 12 October 23 13:45 BST (UK) »
Hi, I'm just struggling with one word from this entry straight after Roderick Fraser, presumably an abbreviation of Roderick's employment, I just can't figure it out!
Many thanks

I think it's 'Roderick Fraser serv(an)t to Tho(ma)s Warrand Esq(uire)
of Warranfield'

You can see this scribe doesn't make full loops on some of his 'e's - see the 'e' in 'Warranfield', and the superscript 't' at the end of the word is often seen as an abbreviation.
Lane, Burgess: Cheshire. Finney, Rogers, Gilman:Derbys
Cochran, Nicol, Paton, Bruce:Scotland. Bertolle:London
Bainbridge, Christman, Jeffs: Staffs

goldie61 is correct with servant. This is a link to various tax rolls where his employer, Thomas Warrand of Warrandfield, is listed.
