Benedicta Boullage lookup request.

Hi all,

Can someone look up the marriage on 23 April 1695 in Combe Raleigh? The surname seems unusual to me and I'm trying to see if it might be a mistranscription of Benedicta Burnard, born in 1662/70 in Colyton or Ottery St Mary.

no, looks like Boullage. She is of Honiton and married John Standwick of Lyme in Dorset, gent. There's a marriage in Burlescombe 29 June 1708 as widow for Benedicta Standerwick of Lyme to Nathaniel Tyrling doctor of Taunton. Her burial in Taunton 28 Nov 1718.

It could be French or it might just be the way the cleric spelled her surname when recording the marriage. I can see records of Bullege, Bullake, Bulligh in earlier records. It could be her surname from a previous marriage.
