Short Latin piece for translation please
« on: Sunday 15 October 23 07:33 BST (UK) »
From WAALT.
1642. 3rd item from the bottom.

http://aalt.law.uh.edu/AALT5/C1/CP40no2500/bCP40no2500dorses/IMG_0641.htm

The first name is evidently Robert Jackson.
I'm interested in the next person named - James Finney of Little Longson.

Many thanks

Derbyshire - Robert Jackson presented himself through his attorney on the fourth day against James Finney, lately of Little Longson in the aforesaid county, yeoman, Martin Tym, lately of Perriehead [Perry Head?] in the aforesaid county, husbandman, Peter Bright, lately of Perriehead in the aforesaid county, husbandman, and Hugh Heald, lately of Perriehead in the aforesaid county, husbandman, in a plea whereby with force of arms they broke into the close of the same Robert at Perriehead and [committed] other outrages etc., causing damage etc., and against the peace etc. And they [the defendants] did not come. And the sheriff was ordered to attach them etc. And the sheriff now reports that they have nothing etc. Therefore they should be arrested, so that they are here in the Octave of Martinmas. And the writ thereof was delivered for the record [of the court] etc.

Many thanks Bookbox.

It sounds as though there would have been some follow up to this, but I can't see anything on AALT.

Have all the entries in the CP40 rolls been indexed for the relevant law terms in that year? (I don't have easy access to check the site right now.)

Thanks for the suggestion Bookbox, but I don't know how you check that out.
There are certainly scores of images for M term 1642, (CP40/2502),  but I can't see an index.
Having said that, it doesn't come up with an Index for the T term either on the page I'm on - where the piece about James Finney is, but that must have been indexed, as it came up on a search for his name on the WAALT page, and led you straight to the actual image on CP40/2500.
I shall have to have a bit more of a play around with it.

Added:
So I finally found my way around the site!
It does indeed look as if there is no index for CP40/2502, and the indexing stops at CP40/2501!
Just out of reach.
I could plough through scores of images. Hmmmm.  :)
