Blythe Yard Whitecross Street
« on: Monday 16 October 23 14:29 BST (UK) »
Does anyone have any information or photos of Blythe Yard Whitecross Street London.  My ancestor lived there and I am assuming they had a shop maybe as he was a Basket Maker in the 1800s.    I have googled it but cannot find any info.  Or a web site where I might obtain any information.  Many thanks

Several yards mentioned but not Blythe Yard. Have you found him on a Census at that address?

The 1881 Census reads
8 Three Kings Court
89, 88, 87, 86, 85a/84, 83, 82, Whitecross Street
1 & 2 Blythe Yard
81 Whitecross Street

You can see Three Kings Court on the 1875 street plan previously posted

All the census's for his family just say Whitecross Street mainly number 18.  It was only on a baptism for his daughter that Blythe Yard is mentioned.  He was a Basket Maker and I think maybe they lived above the shop, but not sure.

But these maps are fantastic thank you.

Found him in '81 at No. 18 - this is the Cripplegate end of Whitecross Street. The '81 Census mentions Midland Railway nearby - the 1895 map shows Goods Station (M.R). Also mentioned close to No 18 are Beech Lane and Glover's Court Hall - can be found on maps already posted.
