Thanks wilcoxon.  I haven’t been able to find that family on 1861 census which has not helped.  Some people are using a death date of 1877 for Edward Phoenix but it’s not this one as that was the shoemaker who was widowed before 1871 census as he lived in lodgings then.

That's correct,  on his burial entry he was 81 and abode was Mount St. An article in the news
In 1876 confirms him as Edward Phoenix shoemaker of Mount Pleasant

Regarding the burial of Elizabeth Phoenix in 1885. Perhaps the death certificate would help to confirm,  hopefully her son Robert registered her death. Just a thought.

Hi Wilcoxon, no year is right.  I got date 5th from burial reg of Hope Church on find my past.  Definitely her as the census reg fits with her still being alive in 1881

Ah thanks for that Wilcoxon that’s his son, I didn’t know he’d been killed at the colliery.  It was his son Albert who is mentioned in the article.  My Auntie Pauline’s (auntie because she was my nanna’s good friend and next door neighbour) grandfather was that  Edward and her dad Albert.  It’s her tree I’m doing, she’s 90 in December.
