Mystery man

Hi, trying to locate burial for my Get Grandfather John Mawson 1843 to 1929. Civil death registered Sunderland in September 1929. Unable to find a burial. Crematorium not nuilt till 1937. Ant ideas what to do next ? Thanks.

If you know the date of death, a newspaper death notice might reveal burial place perhaps.  If you or someone in the area could look it up?

You could book a trip to Tyne and Wear Archives and check out if he is in Sunderland Cemetery (also known as Grangetown cemetery) burial entries - on the off chance.

I don't know if the Sunderland local studies might also hold these burials.

Grangetown Cemetery burials are indexed on Durham Records Online - no sign of him.

Do you have him in 1921? If so where is he living then?

I can see one in 1911 with a son William but can’t find that family in 1921.

Suspect surname has been transcribed as Manson in the 1921 census.

If it is the same person, there is conflicting information on published trees so I wasn’t sure.
