Divorce records in 1907 Pennsylvania.
« on: Thursday 19 October 23 15:43 BST (UK) »
Lyda/Lida May Howard (born 1873) marries Oliver C Taylor (born 1860) in Allegheny Pennsylvania in 1893.  They are in Allegheny in 1900 with daughter Sarah, born 1895.

Trees on Ancestry have the marriage as of Lida M Miller.  Trees also have them divorcing, as of 16th November 1907.

She appears on the 1920 census with her mother and brother, 'married' to John Eacher.
She dies as Lyda May Taylor in Allegheny in 1955.

Is the divorce record on-line anywhere - I cannot see it in anyone's tree, but wondered where they had got the date?

Thanks

Thank-you,

That states that he started proceedings - is there evidence that the proceedings were completed?

Interesting.

So, if recommended, almost bound to go ahead?

If either of them remarried, the subsequent marriage record might mention the date of the divorce.

This says that the divorce records are held by the Office of the Prothonotary in the county where the divorce was granted. https://www.familysearch.org/en/wiki/Pennsylvania_Vital_Records#Divorce_Records

Hi, shellyesq,

Don't think either of them officially remarried.  I wanted to know if a divorce had gone through as I had not found a next marriage, just a living together.  Lyda's next partner(English) got deported, and then appears to move in with his widowed sister-in-law (also deported), so that 'wife' just kept the same name.
