London Gazette Mentioned in Dispatches
« on: Friday 20 October 23 16:02 BST (UK) »
L/Cpl 11276 Henry Louis Hanby of 1st King's Liverpool Regt was Mentioned in Dispatches
in London Gazette 1 January 1916
Would that Gazette show a Description of his Actions?
If so, Can someone kindly find it for me?
Cheers

I think you've possibly got the date wrong - 11276 Private Henry Louis Hanby died 16 May 1915.  :-\  CWGC have his commemoration at Le Touret Memorial, panels 6 - 8.
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.
Remember - "They'll be found when they want to be found" !!!

Here's the mention in the Gazette - just his name and number (column 1):

Cheers ShaunJ- as I thought all the Gazette might say.
Would the Diary say anything?
Is it worth me looking?
But he was Missing May to August and loads of Red Cross enquiries looking for him.

I did find some MiD details long ago and am trying to remember where - they were paper records at Kew, and as far as I can recall all there was consisted of the name and rank, without any specific details.
I'm sure someone will be along shortly with more info; I couldn't find anything useful in the TNA research guides (although it does have useful links to ADM and AIR series for Navy and Air Force, and for WWII).

I've looked a couple for war diaries for my ancestors (Yorkshire) and have found them very interesting.

Sadly the diary entry for May 1915 is missing however there is an entry from the C.O's
personal diary although it doesn't mention any awards.
The action your man was engaged in was of course the Battle of Festubert.
Their involvement was from the 15th. - 20th. May so although he wasn't officially
declared dead until August he would have fallen between these dates.
Their location was North of Festubert in the area of Richeburg St. Vaast.
Although no mention of his MID at least you know where he was.
He was 1 of 14 men reported missing.
