Hi,
I'm trying to trace the life of Benjamin Williams.
He was born approximately 1840 in Plymouth, Devon, according to later census records.
My first record for him is from the census in 1891.
Sometime between birth and 1891 he gets married, loses his wife whose name is not known to me and makes the journey up to Durham. I don't know the order of those events.

As you can see he was living in Durham. He was working as a masons labourer. He is listed as being widowed.
One of my relatives Elizabeth Harwood, was living with him working as his 'house keeper'. Two of her children were living with her.
He also has a man called John James Henry visiting him. John James Henry is also a mason's labourer. He was born in Ireland, so not likely to be a family member of Benjamin Williams.

He's now living in a boarding house, with at least 12 other boarders. Neither Elizabeth or John James are with him. He's working as a colliery labourer.

This is the last record I have for him. He's living as a lodger in the house of a Ralph Meadows Price and his family. He's a pensioner and has apparently acquired a disability, having become partially blind.
I have no idea when he died.
I'd love to know what happened to him in those years before 1891, but I've failed to locate him on any records.
Thank you
