Elusive he is.  ???

John doesn't appear on any Canada Voters Lists and yet he is in the Montreal Directories
at the same address as the 1931 census and is there until 1957 as a carman, CNR, 570 Congregation Street.

No, he was by himself. But with that time frame sometimes the "much better half" isn't listed.

It's odd that he doesn't appear on the Voters Lists.

Haha, yes that's true.  Never did find an incoming passenger list in 1911 and Jean could be Jane, Jeanie, Janet etc.,

Oh well I keep having a peep but he is elusive as you said.

Original poster has not returned again so no feed back from that end.

I couldn't find him or her on a passenger list either.

Yep, I'll keep peeping too.

Adding the Montreal Directories link in case OP wants to have a look.

Hi All,

Thanks all so much for this information, it is so helpful.
Sorry for the late reply, my family research is all part time at the moment and I get back to it when I can.  :)

You have definitely found information that matches my current findings. And thanks for the heads up about John, I agree this may well be his brother.

Thanks

I've done some further investigations this evening but have been unable to verify this John is the brother of Frank, he definitely had one though and the date of birth 1889 would match.

Congregational Street Montreal which sister Mabel Walker Blair headed to, may be a very good clue to the right John.  He just appears to be elusive.

Thanks Sandra, yes I think this is the clue that ties it all together.

Congregation Street shows up in Franks WW1 discharge papers as well although the number is different. It makes sense they would all locate in the same area doesn't it?
