Tracing vanished ancestor
« on: Saturday 21 October 23 16:52 BST (UK) »
Hello, I need help locating what became of my great-great grandfather. His name was Patrick Green, born 1876 in Baillieston. He was a coal miner.

The last location I have of him is in 1919 at 46 Montgomery Place, Newton. His elder sister Mary Ann Campbell and her husband owned the property. After that, I cannot find  him.

Both his parents Francis and Annie are buried in St Peter’s Dalbeth Cemetery, if that is of any help. He was Roman Catholic. I have tried searching scotlandspeople for death and burials but I cannot find anything certain.

Many thanks  :)

Campbell, Myers, Henderson, Ford, Lewis (Durham)
Rooney, Green (Lanarkshire)
Carter (Yorkshire)

Cas

Thank you for the lookup. The 1881 and 91 census are him.

Unfortunately I don’t think the Patrick Green living in Birkenhead is the right one. The 1939 Register has a Patrick Green (assuming this is the same one as the 1921 census) living in Birkenhead with a birthday of 29 Mar 1877, which doesn’t match to mine.

What years were his children born?

When is he recorded as deceased on his children's marriage records?

Sorry for the late response

He had two children, a son born 1912 (died at birth) and my ggmother in 1914. She was adopted and he never had any part in her life.

In the 1921 census my ggmothers parental status is mentioned as “mother dead” and no mention of father status. As he was never part of her life I don’t think she’d know if he was deceased or not to put on the marriage cert.
