Trying to track parents of Daniel Gordon - death Certificate had no parents listed:
The most plausable OPR record for birth is for a Daniel Gordon B 15 April 1816, Kirriemuir
this however would be about 10 years out from Census

He says in the census that he was born in Cortachy or Clova.

The parish of Cortachy and Clova and the parish of Kirriemuir are mutually exclusive. So as well as his age being at least 10 years out, his birthplace doesn't match.

Therefore the one born in Kirriemuir in 1816 is unlikely to be the right person. However you need to view the original of that baptism and see what it tells you, just in case. 
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

You have the additional complexity that your 1841 says not born in county, so contradictory there as well. Bear in mind the baptism may not be in the same place as where he thinks he was born.
Cortachy and Clova are on the old main routes to Aberdeenshire. Just over the hill.
Elizabeth’s place of birth seems to change as well.
You have not given Donald’s children’s names, this is likely to give you parents names.

Ps. He is not Donald Gordon born to Peter Gordon and Margaret Riach, he died in Forfar. I have a lot of Donald Gordons in my tree trying to untangle them, not yours surprisingly.

No definately died in Montrose

I agree, but the one born in Kirriemuir vanishes - maybe died or immigrated whatever left no trace.
But where he was born and where baptised need not be the same. So difficult without Parent Names.
Kids Names were Margaret, James, Charles, Amelia, Mary, William & Jane
