« on: Sunday 22 October 23 15:20 BST (UK) »
hi
I am tring to find if my great grandfather was in a childrens home between 1891 and 1901
he has a number of names in the 1891 census he was Prince Edwards living with Frank and Rose Edwards in 4 Raydon St, St Pancras, London, England
His mothers maiden name was Harman or Harmon
He is living with Rose Luck nee Harmon in 1901 with Robert H Luck and is known as Levi P Luck
they are living at 6 Ashbourne Terr, South Wimbledon Pt of, Surrey, England
He was later known as Prince Levi Victor Harmon Luck
There are rumours that when Rose left Frank Edwards or Edwards died Prince was placed in a childrens home and Robert Luck helped to get him back in the family
Any help would be appreciated
Karl

Hi

1893 (as Prince Edwards) he was attending Holy Trinity National School in Westminster giving a date of  birth of 12 August 1887, father named as Frank.  He was living at 16 Winchester Terrace and last School attended was St Stephens.

Thank you to both replies, I need to track down what happened to Frank Edwards Born St Pancras, London 21st august 1863 as Rose is listed as a widow in the marriage.
We have a rumour that she was so distraught with the death of 'Frankie' she could not cope and had Prince put into a home.
does anyone know is The holy trinity national school at Westminster or St Stephens were children's homes or boarding schools?
thank you again for all your help

He was born as Levi Prince Victor Harman in Edmonton, London.  Mother maiden name is blank suggestive of him being illegitimate.

Do you know if Rose and Frank were actually married? I can't find an obvious marriage for them.

We have never found a marriage although they are shown as married in the 1891 census.
Franks family were architects and Rose was a seamstress. We believe that she worked for his father as a servant / seamstress. With this and franks sudden move to live with someone that was of lower standing than himself we believe that Prince was his son. My mother and I have both had DNA tests and we come up with links to edward trees from this.
It is really only the death of Frank Edwards that will finalise the path of Rose and Prince and also the confirmation or dismissal of the children's home rumour.
Thanks again for all the assistance.
If anyone needs Cornish Roots help please let me know.

By Googling St Stephens appears to have been a primary school.

Possible link to records for Holy Trinity, Westminster
https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/c/F197389
Looks as though records held at LMA.

I'm not sure if this is relevant but there is a Dissolved Partnership reported in June 1897 of Francis Edwards, B Wilkinson and Frank Edwards, architects and surveyors - John Street, Adelphi.

Its in the Morning Post- not sure if its them but its a few months before Rose married Robert so maybe there was something up financially with the business?
