Elizabeth Crick Nethercott b.1859 St Luke marriage or death
« on: Sunday 22 October 23 16:35 BST (UK) »
Hi all,
I'm very close to completing a full descendants list for my ancestors Charles James Lowther and Susannah Crick, but one grandchild eludes me. Could someone please have a look to see if they can find marriage or death records for Elizabeth Crick Nethercott, born in 1859 in St Luke. She was born to John Elias Nethercott (1832-1895) and Elizabeth Crick Lowther (1833-1883), and was the sister of John James Nethercott (1855-1917) and Robert William Nethercott (1857-1858).
Many thanks,
FG

No; I do however have a divorce record from 1874; The parents divorced and the mother seems to marry James Masters shortly after. But it's very strange. The marriage between her and Nethercott dates to 1855, while her and James masters appear to marry in 1868, so I don't know what to make of it.

Nethercott/Lowther marriage was 1855 & Crick is not shown as a name.  Her father is shown as James Lowther

1859 birth reg for Elizabeth shows mmn as Crick - not Lowther

The marriage to James Masters was 1868 & shows Elizabeth Crick Lowther as b 1848 - father Charles

1855 is definitely her; though the father is shown as James Lowther, Charles James Lowther signs himself as a witness. CJL was also a police officer, as seen on the 'occupation' section, which can be corroborated with outside sources. Elizabeth Crick Lowther's sister, Susannah, another witness, can also be corroborated. As for the 1868 record, the middle name Crick and the father being listed as Charles Lowther makes me think that's her too.

Elizabeth is named in the Divorce petition for the parents as one of their 3 children so she is alive at least in 1874

I agree with Carole - that marriage to Mr Masters notes Elizabeth is only 20 (in 1868) and the death in 1883 says Elizabeth Crick Masters was 31.  If the ages are correct I don't think Masters is a second marriage or the death is your Elizabeth who would have been a lot older at both points

It would also explain the oddity of her marrying for a second time in 1868 but not divorcing until 1874 if they are different people.  I wonder if they were perhaps cousins or aunty and neice with the names being so similar
