One Autumn a few years ago .on my early morning dog walk, I was astounded how many and varied toadstools t here were were in our local park.
Growing out of asphalt paths even! Purple ones!
I bought a book to identify some ,sadly many were really toxic .

I  would not like to distinguish between an edible one and a deadly poisonous one, especially as many are so very similar.
No,only  cultivated ones for me.

No mushrooms for me, the last time I ate mushrooms I was very ill. I was on holiday and ended up at the local hospital. I came home half a stone lighter than when I left home and was on tablets to raise my blood pressure back to a normal level for a couple of weeks.

The doctor treating me looked at me and said very seriously, “if I were you I would never eat a mushroom again.”

I agreed with him and haven’t eaten a mushroom since!

Well ,no takers , so just in case anyone can’t sleep tonight , the  boy was very greedy ,seeing sinec” mushrooms “ on the lawn , from his bedroom window he sneaked downstairs and put those he picked with the mushrooms in the larder.
Of course those he had picked were toadstools and poisonous ones too, so he poisoned himself.
