1516 John Stylewell, of Dorkyng, yeoman, Common Pleas

Kia ora

I found a link for this on Wikitree.  There are 5 things on the one page, so I have no idea what this says and whether I have posted here the full document for this man or not.

I am assuming this is in Latin, so any help with what it actually says would be appreciated.

It's a straightforward suit concerning a debt.  John Grover is the plaintiff.

The defendants are Thomas Clerke of Egham, yeoman; Thomas Rounde of Charlwod, husbandman; John Shorter of Chedyngfold, yeoman; John Stylewell of Dorkyng, yeoman; and John Westwode of Croydon, yeoman.

The plea is that any of the defendants should render to John Grover the sum of forty shillings which the same defendants owe and unjustly detain.

The defendants didn't come to court.

The rest is procedural.  It ends with the sheriff reporting that they don't hold anything in his jurisdiction (which might be seized either to compel their attendance or to satisfy the debt); therefore the sheriff should arrest them and have them in court on the day three weeks after Easter.

ADDED:

It's likely that this is all that relates to John Stylewell on the page.  Post the URL if you would like me to check.
