Mary Williams born c1787 where?
« on: Tuesday 24 October 23 18:02 BST (UK) »
Hi
I have Mary Williams who married William Clemo 1809 st Mewan, and had their children there too.
I know she died in 1846 in St Mewan.
The 1841 census in St Mewan has her birth at approx 1788.

Can anyone find her birth and parents, please?

Cornwall-OPC-Database.org.uk has 3 possible baptisms at St. Austell.

1785 daughter of Philip and Rose
1787 daughter of James and Mary
1791 daughter of Dorothy (No father's name)

St Mewan is 1 mile from St Austell.

They do t have any children called Philip, rose or Dorothy. They do have a James and a Mary.however, thoseare very very common names then 🤪
Thank you for looking.

Do you know where she is buried and if she could have a head stone?
I live quite near St Austell and St Mewan and would be happy to take a look for the grave marker for you. It might have more information hopefully.

I know she died in 1846 in St Mewan.

On her death in Feb 1846, her was recorded as 59 - so birth around 1786-87.

The marriage banns (transcript) have her as a sojourner - so not from St Mewan.

I am not seeing any children for them called Philip, Rose or Dorothy.

That's very kind of you but there's a picture of the grave stone at St Mewan on ancestry. It says died Feb (think it was seventh but closed the tab) 1846 agreed 59, which would make her birth c1787.
Also husband, William, and daughters Mary and Elizabeth Hooper (married Edward hooper in 1828).

Thank you. That's useful to know about the sojourner bit. I hadn't found that.
