I didn’t actually put the day of the month in my initial information but it was 18th August so that’s really got to be your lady.

Got my account reactivated and Ive found Agnes Easdale - So delighted. So thanks folks.

Can anyone find what happened to James Easdale her Dad? He transparently died when Agnes was 3years old.
Possibly while in the The Navy?

I noted this death in 1953. I assume it’s not your ancestor?

Esdale James of Ballymagowan Desertmartin county Londonderry retired labourer died 5 April 1953 at Mid-Ulster Hospital Magherafelt county Londonderry Probate Belfast 22 June to James A. Best fitter. Effects £217 17s.

There was also a James Easdale death in Scotland in 1926. Aged 34 and died in Old or West Kilpatrick district (Clydebank area). Sounds more promising.

I think the death in Scotland is about right in 1926. Its the area he came from and Agnes was born in 1923 so would have been 3 years old in 1926. Ill try and find that record. Many thanks again. Much appreciated

I can see from the 1920 marriage certificate that James Esdale was a sheet metal worker in Clydebank. So he probably worked in the shipyards. Harland & Wolff had shipbuilding yards in Belfast, Glasgow, Liverpool & Southampton and often shifted their skilled staff around if they were needed in one of the other yards.  (If you look at the places of birth for shipyard workers in Belfast in the 1901 & 1911 Irish censuses, you’ll see hundreds born in Scotland and England. Presumably a similar study of censuses in Clydebank, Liverpool & Southampton would show loads born in Ireland).

So possibly James came to Belfast for shipyard work at some point and that’s where he met Agnes Creen.
