Relieved to say that it has been a very quiet night - or is it that Bonfire Night is no longer celebrated?

It has been very quiet here but we were away last night so I don't know what went  on here
In Teignmouth  they did have an organised display but I was busy eating out so missed it, apparently very enjoyable.
I don't think there are so many organised displays now

No bonfires here - and few fireworks.
Guy Fawkes was not a part of Manx History!

But I do miss the Somerset Illuminated Carnivals at this time of year.

Lots of fireworks here over the weekend, our road had a get together.  Firework display in the town was replaced by a drone display.

Our carnival was in September and not illuminated

I watched the Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival live on the net on Saturday evening.
The procession was estimated to be 2 miles long! What a spectacle.

Organised firework displays are so much safer and more spectacular .
It is pretty dangerous when you think, even a pretty sparkler can be really dangerous.

So really a pretty quiet night here but a few weeks ago a near neighbour did have some sort of party and there were a lot then.
Other neighbours complained because they had no idea and so cats were not kept in nor nervous dogs sedated in advance if necessary.

Well guess what folks,it is raining!
Oh so much rain.
I don’t know about trips to the moon it is about time someone got excess rain water from my garden to The Sahara!
There was a plan ages ago to tow icebergs from the Arctic, but The Arctic now has its own problems!
Another scheme was to plant trees, in North Africa, gradually getting closer to the desert,on the basis that trees seemingly attract rain, I expect now Hadrian’s Wall will suffer from drought ——- by the way, arrests re the felling of the tree!

Well ironing calls so T.V on .
Where can I get a really good sized ironing board cover,? most are too small ,my board is broad and good for ironing bed linen .but it is very brown at the iron rest end.
Problems problems!
Look after yourselves ,
Viktoria.

Thanks L.M, what did you use for padding ?
This one is a sort of sponge ,in a cotton cover, elastic at at the pointy end.
Only  thin but was very effective .Badly scorched at the wide end,in fact it is a disgrace!  :-[

A few have come up at b&m,so one in Bury and another on the way to Bury going the long way round.
Thanks again.
Viktoria.

I used an old sheet folded a few times, also used a blanket, you can pad it as much as you like I think as long  as you give yourself enough material to cover it,  I saw a thing recently  that showed if you can open your board and lay it on the floor or a table,  draw round it giving a really good hem, hem and put thin elastic through, It will  cover whatever you pad it with, might need a bit of a tug  but your son might help you, I don't like the sponge, this pattern  it worked for me.
Good luck Viktoria
