Hezekiah ODELL, Born 1844 (?), Aspley Guise,

Hello,

I can find no definitive birth, parental details for this gentleman.  From age 13 onwards until his death in 1905 I have a full narrative, but his birth remains something of a mystery.   His mother's christian name was "Fanny" (Census) and her maiden name possibly "BUCK", but that is really the sum total of my knowledge.

Can someone kindly help me.

Can you include details of Fanny - birthyear/birthplace/marital status

1851 shows several other children.  You have posted on the Bedfordshire board but 1851 shows Hezekiah was b Buckinghamshire as were his older siblings.

Have you found them on the 1841 as Fanny is shown as a widow in 1851

I suspect this person is not connected to your FH but you are researching his 1yr prison sentence as part of your long standing study into "prisoners"

Hezekiah ODELL was never married!!!

His birthplace according to his prison records was Aspley Guise which is in Bedfordshire and all his criminal records, he was convicted 4 times totalling 10 years and 7 days, are from the Bedford Gaol Register.  Sadly the 1851 Census provides little help as none of the children's births, with the possible exception of Mary Ann, were registered as far as I am aware.

There are a few births in Bedford with Odell - Buck parents as well as Mary Ann in Dec 1845

The ODELL name is a lot more prolific than first thought, though sadly I cannot place him.

The marriage in 1885 could be an entirely different person as the 1891 Census has him in Luton living as a single person.......it is a pity the 1885 detail is from the GRO and no age given.
