I'm afraid the Marriage Certificate has to be accepted as accurate.   The only other fact about the father, Levy ODELL, was that he was "deceased" in 1885!!

Many of us have marriage certificates where Brides/Grooms have lied about their fathers, as he would not have had to prove who his father was how can you be sure it was accurate

I would question the accuracy too.  As has been said people did tell fibs on certificates for various reasons.

Burroughs - Arlingham Glos
Pick - Frocester Glos

1861 the family are in Luton indexed as surname 'Add' on FindMyPast.  The address for them on this ties in with that given for Fanny on Hezekiah's  prison records 25 Adelaide Terrace

Perhaps you need to purchase one of his siblings marriage certificates in the hope it has his fathers name mentioned.

Thank you "rosie99"

I had noticed the 1861 Census entry under the name ODEL and am quite happy I am dealing with the
correct Hezekiah ODELL (there are very few entries by that name in all sources!!)   Sadly, the question of his father remains unanswered but does not affect his life story up to his death in 1905.
