Can’t find a marriage

Hello

Can anyone find a marriage to a William Cookson  before 1746 (first child John was born)  to a Mary over in Shropshire. As I’m at wits end with finding one.

Do you have a vague idea where it might have happened in Shropshire? I suppose it's possible that records for that area might not survive, at least not from that period?
