Up to a point…..I still have no idea of his original name or birthplace. His 2 census appearances show Bow but grandpa told me St. Petersburg! Only other clues were grandpa’s memory (he was the first born) is of two uncles who would sometimes visit…..Solly and David….not unusual names in the Jewish community.

He would have been disowned by the family for taking up with my gt.grandma who was not Jewish.
