Have you traced Elizabeth back on earlier censuses to establish her husbands name?

Looking at the possible 1841 entry Mary was an only child at that time & fathers name John matches fathers name on her 1866 marriage

1851 has a 3yr old grandson so presumably older children

Use www.familysearch.org to look for a marriage to establish Elizabeths maiden name or try https://www.cornwall-opc-database.org/search-database/

From FreeCen:

1861 Census: Jack Lane
John Paul . Head . M . 72 . Porter . Cornwall . Madron
Elizabeth Paul . Wife . M . 65 . Char Woman . Cornwall . Morvah
Mary Ann Paul . Dau . U . 24 . Char Woman . Cornwall . Mousehole
Elizth M Paul . Grndau . 5 . Scholar . Cornwall . Newlyn

It would seem Mary Ann married William MacDonald who adopted Elizabeth M. If registered, there is one in Penzance that gives mmn Yeamon.

Elizabeth Mary Paul . mmn Yeamon
Apr-Jun 1857 . Penzance . Volume 05c . Page 370
As the census says unmarried that could be the name of the child’s father, or her mother’s maiden name.

From FreeReg: If the registration is correct this is the marriage.

St Pol de Leon Parish Register Paul . Cornwall . 211
Marriage: 06 Sep 1856
John Guy Paul . Full . Bachelor . Fisherman . Paul
Elizabeth Barnes Yeaman . Spinster . Full . Paul
Groom Father: Martin Paul . Fisherman
Bride Father: John Yeaman . Fisherman
Witnesses: Thomas Roberts . William Henry Williams
Notes: The bride and groom signed with a mark.

Added:
St Pol de Leon Parish Register Paul . Cornwall . 367
Baptism: 27 Dec 1829
Elizabeth Barnes Yeoman . Female
Parents: John (Fisherman) and Mary Yeoman
Abode: Mousehole

I cannot find a baptism for John Guy Paul with father Martin.
I have not found any link to travellers or the Boswell family.

CaroleW, as you know her father was a labourer, who did she marry? Added: Found the information.

Marriage: Jul-Sep 1866 . Penzance . Volume 5c . Page 445
Mary A Paul married William H Bryant or William McDonald

1841 Census: Fradgan . Paul . Penwith
Enumeration District 17 . Piece 143 . Folio 21 . Page 35
Jno McDonald . M . 30 . Fisherman . Cornwall
Nancy McDonald . F . 25 . Cornwall
Willm McDonald . M . 5 . Cornwall
John McDonald . M . 3 . Cornwall
Mary McDonald . F .12m . Cornwall
Nancy Rodda . F . 20 . Female Servant . Cornwall

It looks like Mary A could have married her step-brother.

Added: (She did marry her step-brother) . From FreeReg:
St Peter Parish Register Newlyn . Cornwall . 2
Marriage: 03 Sep 1866
William McDonald . 29 . Bachelor . Mariner . Jack Lane, Newlyn

Bride’s Father: John Paul . Labourer
Witnesses: Jabez Shepherd . Susan Warren

From the marriage Mary Anne is 1 year younger than William. Yes they could marry. Although locals would know they were living under the same roof, they would also know the history in not being related. They married in Newlyn not the church at Paul; and she used the surname Paul.

I cannot find any link to travellers or the Boswell family. Unless there is evidence, this thread should be on the Cornwall board. My interest was Traveller and Boswell, though I spend a lot of time in the Penzance and Newlyn areas.
