John Barton born c1827 Ilkeston
« on: Wednesday 01 November 23 22:19 GMT (UK) »
Hi

I am looking for the baptism of John Barton , the Census shows him born 1827 in Ilkeston  I am trying to find his parents. In the 1841 Census, he is shown living with Thomas Barton born Derbyshire c1771

Any help would be much appreciated.

Regards  David

There is a Benjamin Barton and Fanny Winfield with children baptised in Ilkeston in the 1820s.
They were married there in 1823

Added - I think the records are patchy because they were non-conformist.
Milligan - Jardine – Glencross – Dinwoodie - Brown: (Dumfriesshire & Kirkcudbrightshire)
Clark – Faulds – Cuthbertson – Bryson – Wilson: (Ayrshire & Renfrewshire)
Neale – Cater – Kinder - Harrison: (Warwickshire & Queensland)
Roberts - Spry: (Cornwall, Middlesex & Queensland)
Munster: (Schleswig-Holstein & Queensland) and Plate: (Braunschweig, Neubruck & Queensland & New York)

The John Barton with Thomas Barton is in Ashbourne.

There is a John Barton, 15 yrs in Ilkeston, ‘Gallows Inn’.
The census page shows ‘female’ but the name reads John and the occupation ‘M S’ . There are two ‘F S’ - female servants also.

Hi All

Thanks for that very useful information, I nearly went down the wrong Line. I would agree that the parents must be Benjamin and Fanny Winfield.I now need to find their wedding.

Kind Regards

David
