New information has come to light.

The twins father is Douglas Leslie Cartlidge 1921-2010. He married Margaret Calvert Rigg 1921-2010 in Canada before he went to war, they both had a son and daughter.

Edith Anne Fletcher and Douglas fell in love in England during the war and had the two twin boys. They never married.

The problem is Edith's father was a Doctor who was looking after Douglas Cartlidge after his evacuation from Germany due to wounds. I am trying to find the correct Edith Anne Fletcher and her mother and father.

Regards
Mike

I was thinking the same..maybe not the correct Edith

Been trying to locate electrol for the address given in 1949 it looks well to do given the prices selling today.

The Haven, Jean Avenue Leigh, maybe someone else can find who lived there around 1949.

What birthdate for Edith do you have?

Also the last country of permanent residence was Canada,
could the boys have been born there?

Opps wrong rechecked states England

I can’t spot ‘The Haven’ but might be worth trying electoral registers for Leigh.
I think it will be Wigan - https://www.wigan.gov.uk/Resident/Museums-archives/Wigan-Archives/Collections/Family-history.aspx

Added - well spotted Ladyhawk.

Does the lady know where Douglas was being treated?

There is an Edith Anne Reeves b 1921 living in Leigh in 1939.
We are not allowed to post details unfortunately.

I think this may be her
Marriage Leigh St Mary’s 1943
Edith Anne Reeves and George Edward Fletcher.

There is a death for George Edward in 1996, Leigh
