Thomas William Jacob/s
« on: Sunday 05 November 23 19:20 GMT (UK) »
My 2xgreat grandfather Thomas William Jacob/s was born in Faversham c1854.He is shown on the 1911,1901,and 1891 as Thomas William Jacobs. On the 1881 hes Thomas William Coppins,on the 1871 and 1861 hes Thomas Coppins. His parents were Jesse Coppins and Mary Ann Jacob, who never married.
Ive found a baptism for a Thomas Jesse Jacob in 1853 in Faversham, which sounds right given his fathers name, but doesnt match the other records. Then theres a baptism on 7th Feb 1872 in Faversham for a Thomas William Jacob, son of Mary Jacob, but the dates way out.
When Thomas married Mary Ann Epps in Faversham,he gave his father as Jesse Jacobs.

Please can anyone explain any of that?

Many thanks.

The baptism entry for Thomas William Jacob (the surname Coppins is crossed-out) gives his birth date in the margin as 27 June 1853
Worldwide One-Name Study (ONS) of the Harlow surname and the surname variants Harlowe, Harlo & Harloe + maybe Arlow

Thanks for the replies.

I think Thomas William must be the one im looking for.I wonder why they waited until he was 19 before they had him baptised. And i wonder who Thomas Jesse was?Its feels likely hes connected, given the father was Jesse Coppins, and the fact that Thomas refered to his father as Jesse Jacobs on his marriage cert.

Thanks for that.

Clearly the same person,as the dates exactly the same.I wonder why its Thomas Jesse there, and Thomas William on the other. The Thomas William was done at Faversham Parish Church, and Thomas Jesse at Ospringe Lane, which sounds like a residential address.

This is his birth registration so Ospringe Lane is where he was born.Have you found a baptism for Thomas Jesse Jacob or just the birth reg? I can't see a birth reg for Thomas William Jacob in 1853. The 1872 baptism could have been arranged by Thomas himself.
