I assume this is the burial at St Mary's of your James

1828   27-Oct   James           Square   60

no spouse name given but I would guess the register at the time only recorded male spouses as none are recorded in the list

On Freebmd website there is this that needs checking out on the GRO website for the age

Iif as you sayin post 1 ~ your Sarah died in May could have been registered later in July by the registrar as it was job to register the death not the family them years

June to Sept 1849

Deaths Sep 1849   (>99%)
Fielden    Sarah        Todmorden    21   497

I think this is where your 1849 death year for SARAH may have also  have come from even though the months of death are different

In my opinion the marriage residence is not always the place of birth. Never forget Workhouse and overseers accounts records of birth

Sept qtr on Freebmd = deaths registered in July, August & September so probably a bit late for a May death and would be that Sarah age 0.

June qtr = April, May & June

The Sarah Fielden I am looking for married James Fielden of Square, Walsden (1768-1828) in 1797, when she was 22, and their other children are born after this date.  But my ancestor John Fielden 1791-1848 was born before their marriage, so I am not sure about things.  Sarah would have been 16 when he was born, and not yet married.

I got the GRO death digital image for John Fielden, at least I think I have the right one, it says he died 24th July 1848 at Knowl Wood, Walsden, age 58, Labourer, and the Informant is Coroner Dearden who gives his cause of death as "Visitation of God".

Is this the marriage of your James

Marriage: 9 Nov 1797 St Chad, Rochdale, Lancashire
James Fielding - (X), Hundersfield in this parish
Sarah Crossley - (X), Hundersfield in this parish
    Witnesses: Luke Nield; Thos. Fletcher

How did you determine that this one was your James? The are a few James/Sarah marriages
