It's a bright sunny but very windy morning here in Devon, so I think I'll tackle the large pile of laundry which has built up over the last wet days.  I will keep a weather eye on the washing lines, as these showers keep popping up without any warning.  There are rather a lot of leaves on roads and pathways and our neighbour's thatched roof has shed a lot of its thatch, some of it into our garden.  His house is a listed building and he has to have permission to do any work on it.  Currently he is seeking permission to re-thatch the roof and put in a new boiler, which requires a new vent in the roof.   Each application takes a long time to process.  Even to have his chimney swept requires permission and he must use approved tradesmen, who are usually more expensive than many.  Unfortunately the last thatcher he used  actually fell off the roof and injured himself quite badly.  He was a master thatcher and used ladders rather than scaffolding.  Now they have to use scaffolding and we shall have to endure the scaffolding at the back of our house and have to keep our heavy wooden back gate unlocked, so that  the tradesmen have access to the back of his house..  No nude sunbathing for us, then! (That's not something we do, I hasten to add, though our back garden is normally quite private!)

It was bright in Essx earlier but clouded over and looks like rain,  got to keep one eye on the weather to get my washing  in.

G, I hope the fields around  your area have had some chance to dry out, was a sad sight travelling  to and from Teignmouth last week, went to Exeter and travelled by train on Saturday, the river Teign looked a bit sad for itself.

Keep warm folks

I have 2 Dutch pensions - both quite small.
Have never had to fill out a Dutch Tax Return; I just confess to the IOM Tax Office, and they sort things out!

Don't have to do a UK Tax Return either - again, handled by IOM Taxman.
Pensions from IOM, UK and NL!

Sunny here, but cold. 6C.

Got a hospital visit coming up - The Walton Centre in Liverpool. Just a consultation; but maybe an op later?

Bright and sunny here in Dorset , but unlike Gillg in the neighbouring County, no wind at all, not so much as the flicker of a leaf on the trees. It goes to show how much the weather can vary in a short distance.

No doubt we will see the return of the rain before long. ::)

Hope all goes well K.G.

Oooh, nothing like so convenient here K.G.
I pay an accountant to do my English one,Grand daughter could do it except she is in Suffolk.
As I said my son does the Belgian one , they want the exact rate of exchange to the hour on the day the transfers are made , I used to get a CHAPS invoice with all that on, but no longer since lockdown so my son has to work it out.
I wish they would give up!
I never have to pay tax to Belgium .
It is pretty generous too, Vakantie Geld- (Holiday money)and  a thirteenth month too.I do have some tax to pay to Inland Revenue here though because of that extra from Belgium.
A bright but very cold morning, washing on the line and after my milky coffee I am off to the bright lights of Ramsbottom .
No idea what to have for our Sunday meal , I fall back on a ham joint quite often , no desire for beef or lamb.Fed up with chicken but do like salmon .
Well,  off I go before my son thinks he is helping me!!!!
Hope the good weather continues, we need to dry out ,so do the gardens.
Must get some bulbs to put in pots which aren’t seen among foliage but the daffodils and tulips are.
Cheerio, a good weekend to you all.
Viktoria.

Anyone watch the RBL Festival on Saturday? Who was the young lad with such a beautiful voice singing Pie Jesu?

Another one  today too, exquisite ,might have been on Songs of Praise ,but I had such a long wait for a bus I think I did not get home until later than that programme.
Yesterday’s boy soprano had a lovely jacket but white trainers, he was younger than today’s soloist, both had a wonderful range and purity of sound and both were perhaps descendants of The Windrush generation.
I would like to hear them again so will Google it.

Malakai Bohue , I thought he looked much younger at The Festival of Remembrance than he did today ,but was the same boy .
He has a few albums seemingly , I think he has performed with  Aled Jones .
Google it.
Gosh ,only seems five minutes ago Aled Jones was a lovely boy soprano, he still has a very nice voice.
