I am just trying to find any distant cousins or relations with the surname of WHITTLE
I am the last surviving British relative with that name, although my family have had an interesting past My name is Christopher Whittle and I still live in Burnley, Lancashire My late father was Robert Whittle who had three elder brothers, Enoch, John Thomas and Lawrence, who all worked as weavers in the day when cotton was king in Burnley
Another industry was coal mining, in which my father worked at Bank Hall Colliery in Burnley from 1938 - 1971 as a Draughtsman then Chief Draughtsman His father was Yates Whittle, who was a war hero serving throughout the First World War, at the Somme and many other horrific battles We won two war medals but returned home a broken man through shell shock (now PTSD). A casualty of war He left England a tea total and returned home a drunk. The Grandfather who I never met, died in 1943.
The main reason for information regards my late Uncle Lawrence, who settled in Tasmania, I think in the 1950s and became a Justice of the Peace. I actually met Uncle Lawrence in the 1980s on a trip to England when he reunited with my Dad and a 6 week visit to the UK. I heard of his passing many years ago. I would really like to finally make a connection with my cousin's if at all possible. My dad passed away on the 13th of November 2013 almost 10 years to the day As I said, I am the only WHITTLE left.
