The Remuera arrived here from London, Southampton via Panama, on 22 4 1921. See reply #5. Seems an incredibly long journey!

Actually, according to this site which documents the history of the Remuera, it arrived 16 Nov 1920, so not quite 7 weeks.

Might have an update here:

It would appear that Thomas Jones enlisted for the New Zealand Expeditionary Force in 1915.
  • Regimental Number: 11/1814
  • Rank: Trooper
  • Unit: Wellington Mounted Rifles
  • NZ Address: Avondale, Blenheim
Next of Kin is listed as: Mrs T Jones (wife), Grendon, Near Atherstone, Warwickshire, England.

The information about his wife is incorrect, though T Jones may be a transcription error. Thomas does clearly answer the question "Are you married?" with "Yes" on the form.

That's great Zakerias. Strange that the army records show his death on 30 Dec 1966 in Auckland, but I can't find a corresponding death on the NZ BDM index. It seems he may have married again "Mrs A A JONES" is next of kin. Just a possibility:

Ada Ann WIGGALL married Thomas JONES in 1932 (1932/1740).

I thought it must be that one, but was trying 30 and 31 December 1966 - silly of me not to try earlier.  ::)
