Elizabeth Gray
« on: Tuesday 07 November 23 20:21 GMT (UK) »
Hi, I'm looking for any information with regards to Elizabeth Gray who married Joseph Chicken in 1831 at All saints church Newcastle upon Tyne . 1851 Census has her birth as Longbenton Northumberland circa 1811 and the 1881 census has her birth as Killingworth Northumberland. Any information with regards to her parentage would be appreciated . I believe she died in 1889 in Houghton Le Spring .

The names FORSTER and RODGER used as given names suggests that these are family names from earlier generation.

Joseph would be named after his father, so RODGER might be ............paternal grandmother?

FORSTER might be .....maternal grandmother?

What do you know about the family of Joseph CHICKEN, the better to see which family....CHICKEN/GRAY .......these family names might be from.

Thank you for the replies.
Joseph Chicken was born in 1805 in Longbenton , the son of Joseph Chicken and Ann Dawson and died in Easington in 1861 . Joseph and Elizabeth had a daughter Hannah born in 1835 Longbenton  who married Richard Weelands.

This is a Barrington era baptism, so there are a lot of useful extras on the Bishops Transcripts including the native parishes of the parents;

4th daughter of Roger Grey, pitman native of Lamesley by his late wife Elizabeth Davey native of Tanfield

The full burial details (from the BT's) are:
Elizabeth Grey, late Davy, Killingworth Coll[ier]y, wife of Roger Grey, died 9th July, buried 11th July aged 43 years
