Which hospital in Bournemouth 1939?
« on: Wednesday 08 November 23 19:22 GMT (UK) »
The 1939 register shows a relative of mine as a patient in a hospital, but I don't know which one.
It gives only the address - 84 Southbourne Road, Bournemouth.  I've tried Googling, but none of the possibles mention that road - can anyone tell me which one it was please?

I'm thinking it might have been a TB sanitorium, my relative was born and lived in Battersea, London all his life; he was 37 in 1939, and died two years later back in Battersea.

If you search for the address in Google Books you'll find several references to the Douglas House Hospital.

I did a general search of Bournemouth hospitals for that time hoping to find the actual address, the Douglas House Hospital looks like the one - thank you, much appreciated 😁

I can confirm it would be Douglas House, now demolished and replaced with housing.  I remember the building, I lived just off  Southbourne Road and went to school close by.
