Shaw Burials
« on: Wednesday 08 November 23 21:32 GMT (UK) »
Hello
Does anyone have access to burials at Holy Trinity Shaw near Oldham.?
I went to Oldham Archives and found William Greaves age 72 in Dec 1872 which seems not to be on Ancestry.
I am looking for two more but can't get over before they close on Nov 30
Betty Greaves in 1888 age 73
and    James Collinge 1870 age 64
Thank you
Glyn

Have you transposed James Collinge age?  Freebmd shows him as 46 - not 64

Buried 10.12.1870 Holy Trinity Shaw - no grave number

Thank you, James is not on free BMD or GRO only Lancashire BMD and I contacted them to be sure the record existed, but it would mean paying £11 for a certificate and still not sure it is him

Lancs BMD shows two x James Collinge died 1870
1) aged 46 yrs , Crompton
2) aged 64 yrs , Royton

Are you saying that the Royton death is your James who is buried in Holy Trinity, Shaw?

Thank you for replies
They were from Royton but chose to bury at Shaw? Maybe the Greaves grave was full with William as there were children in it before him.
I think the James Collinge died 1870 is the one baptised 1805 at St Peters from Turf Lane son of John & Mary
There were 3 cousins all James 1805, 1806 &1809.
Maybe he is is a chapel burial ground? In 1861 he was a brick setter with wife Betty who had been blind 19 years, no children. Bit of a mystery. Thank you for finding Betty's burial
