Thanks ColC, every little helps.
ELSPET RICHARDSONE BORN/BAPTISED JOHN RICHARDSONE 27/06/1698 CULLEN
If the above is Elspet quite young to be married at the age of 15 or so?
Yes, I'd say too young.
DONALD CHISM MARRIED ELSPET RICHARDSON 26/05/1713 BOYNDIE
Children = Boyndie
WILLIAM 21/04/1714, JANET 22/10/1715
Yes, got them. And Donald Chism was a witness on 10/10/1714 in Cairston, Boyndie.
DONALD CHISOLM MARRIED MARGARET DEAN 30/03/1716 NAIRN
Child = Nairn
MARGARET 24/07/1716
and
DEAN MARGARET ROBERT SMITH 01/07/1718 NAIRN
So did Donald die.
I'd say a distinct possibility.
Possibly Margaret Dean is the one bpt 22/4/1690 Inverness.
I'd say it's more likely that Inverness' Donald Chisolm moved to Nairn than Boyndie's Donald Chism, especially noting there was only 4 months between mother's 1716 marr and her child's birth.
Leaving the Inverness (& Nairn) strand to its own devices,
Is this the Elspet born about 1713 I wonder?
RICHARDSON ELSPET PETER MURRAY 20/11/1726 FORDYCE
It looks like they had 4 children in Fordyce but Elspet is noted as Richie, Ritchy or Ritchie?
No, again I'd say too young. But she could be Donald Chism's wife on a second marriage because the Fordyce OPR has: "Peter Murray in Fordyce parish & Elspet Richardson in the parish of
Boyndie" which would be compelling were it not that both Donald's children's names were repeated in the Murray/Richardson family, which rather undermines things.
A witness (in 1736) was Wm Richie in Tillenaught, so likely to be the child's uncle. A Robert Richardson/Richie was there in 1730-32, so likely another brother.
This Richardson aspect hasn't thrown up anything (so far?) to progress Boyndie's Donald Chism parentage. But the Nairn aspect is tipping Boyndie's Donald Chism away from him being Inverness's Donald Chisolme. One step forward? Preparing for two steps back!
To reprise, my 6xgtgdmother is Bessie Chissolm with Donald being her brother. Finding Donald's parents seemed easier to achieve than finding Bessie's. So far no luck either way.
