Yes I Agree Gaffy its a strong possibility.
The names in the ancestry post are also name of  Elizabeth Anne Burns and Samuel Cowan's Children

Elizabeth and Samuel Cowan children where.....
Margaret Cowan  born Glasgow1884-1885
Sarah Jane Boyd Cowan born 1882 Glasgow
Robert Cowan  born 1880 Newry died Glasgow( G Grandfather)
Mary Jane Cowan born and died Newry 1878-1879
James Cowan born 1877 Newry died Glasgow
Samuel Cowan born 1870c died Glasgow
William John Cowan born 1868 Newry died Glasgow

This is my GGM and I am also finding it hard to decipher.
The daughter that reported it Sarah, looks like the surname is Alexander but her surname was Dunbar
