Marias mothers surname is unknown. Her husband was the informant.
Her English marriage certificate from 1873 should give you father's name.

I get the impression that when Alice Taylor came to Craven as a housekeeper, she already had the child Edith Elizabeth with her, and she was adopted by Craven. Then Alice had 2 children fathered by Craven.

Where did she go after the second child was born? - and she left the children with Craven.
I saw a couple of possibilities with her as a house keeper, in the 1901(London I think?) and 1911 census but I wasn't sure, so didn't keep note.

Maybe the Taylor name is just a coincidence, but it seems unlikely.

You might want to try the birth certificate for Edith ELizabeth that I posted earlier. ?

My cousins DNA matches show quite a few Craven cousins. Between 16 and 225cM from Alfreds children Alice Craven and Caroline Craven plus 65cm,  94cM, 126 matches to Alfreds father and mother

Well the 1882 birth looks like a match.
Was Alice already in service for the Craven family then?
I don’t have any experience with DNA, but the DNA  links to Craven suggest he was the father, or ? someone in his same family.

So now to see if we can discover who Alice Taylor was.
Do you have any ages for her listed on those certificates you have now?

The DNA is too good to be a sibling from what I understand to be from a sibling.

Edith Elizabeth Taylor
8 October 1882. 11 Westgate Court, Ipswich
Alice Taylor, mother, domestic servant

Living at 11 Westgate Court, Ipswich in 1881 census is
Thomas Taylor – head - 50  Hotel Porter
Elizabeth Taylor – wife – 49 charwoman
These are the parents of Maria Taylor who married Craven in 1873.

Clearly there must be a link between Maria Taylor and Alice Taylor.
