Crowland - where is North Bank?
« on: Saturday 11 November 23 17:08 GMT (UK) »
In the 1851 census there are families including the BYWORTH, ALDERMAN and SIMPSON families, residing on NORTH BANK, Crowland.

Can anyone give me a map reference or similar to this location, please?

1851 Enumerator's Walk - for Byworth surname = Croyland!!  But it also does appear to be Crowland  :-X

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

This ‘side by side’ map is useful.
North Bank is clearly shown on the r-h map.

Thank you all very much.  On the map (rhs) it shows that North Bank is the first part out of town, and it then becomes Wash Bank a little further north.

I asked because I believe this is where my g3 grandmother, who lived on North Street, drowned herself in 1855.  The Coroner's report and Inquest are not easy to decipher (poor handwriting) but one of the witnesses lived on North Bank.

So thank you for your help.
