Also, just noticed that on Ann's death certificate his occupation was a wool carder?

Just to add to the lack of records for James, I have never found a marriage bond or parish register entry of a marriage for these two. Also they had lots of children, only one baptism was found at St Oswalds, Grasmere!!

It was a chapel-of-ease in Hawkshead parish.

Thanks Osprey, I have these Baptism entries in my file for further investigation, they are certainly a possibility. Would you have expected to find a marriage bond for Ann & James? I don't know if all couples had one ?
