Help finding Sides - completed thanks
« on: Tuesday 14 November 23 14:33 GMT (UK) »
According to various censuses, my gg grandfather Robert Sides was born in West Felton (two) or Ruyton XI towns (one). He married in Llansilin (Denbighshire) and his father was specified as Thomas.

There was a Thomas Sides in the Llansilin area who had some children in West Felton and some in Llansilin. It looks like he may have moved in about 1820. From what I can see, Thomas and Elizabeth married in Oswestry in 1803. (There's no information on their parents, unfortunately.)

Also Robert had his brothers William (b approx 1811) and Timothy (approx 1812) living with him when he was older. But I couldn't find any records for baptisms with father Thomas for Robert, William and Timothy, whether the one I mentioned, or another.

I would be grateful for any help. Thank you.

I note the marriage and 1841/51 census returns but no birth/baptism, it is always possible the record may not have survived or he was not baptised?

there's this baptism in Ruyton but father is John. Can't find the register online for this one to check if the transcription is correct.

There don't seem to be other baptisms to John & Elizabeth in the parish, but there is this one to Thomas & Elizabeth

That explanation makes a lot of sense.
