French historian Michel Champagne
« on: Tuesday 14 November 23 20:29 GMT (UK) »
According to this wiki, Michel Champagne, a genealogist and historian, has written scores of historical books and papers.
http://wikipasdecalais.fr/index.php?title=Michel_Champagne

I am particularly interested in a couple from this list.

Does anyone have any idea of what the ‘AM’ stands for in these references, and where I might be able to see these articles?

I tried clicking on his website link at the bottom of the page, but it is now defunct.

Any ideas?
Many thanks

On this website you can find the papers, but no possibility to read them. I'll try tomorrow if there's a way to access them. Maybe it will be enough if one becomes a member.

Gosh Zefiro. I don't know how you found this!
I spent ages trying to get some lead about these documents.

As you say, there doesn't seem to be any way to read the actual documents on this site - I'm not sure even if I became a member, there is any way to see them on-line.
I await your further enquiries with interest! ;)

It looks as though you have to become a member.

€20 per year gives you access to their libraries, etc.

Sounds like a good deal!

I registered as a visitor (this is free). I don't have more privileges or possibilities than before.
They offer a paid annual subscription, starting January 1st, for 20€. One might assume that this would enable you to view the publications you mentioned (but I'm not 100% sure about that).

I didn't find any other site that offers these papers to read online.

Sorry i can't bring you better news.

Many thanks for doing that Zefiro.
It looked to me as though even if you joined, there didn't seem to be any way to actually view these documents on line.
As the subscription runs annually from Jan to Dec, there seems little point in paying it now in the middle of November - certainly until, (if), I can find out any more information.
I shall have to send them an email to ask.
Perhaps you have to go to their office to see these documents -  as Karen says, 'access to their libraries'.
A little difficult from here on the other side of the world!  ;)

Thanks for trying.

Hi Goldie,

The page I linked says - assuming I have understood it correctly  ;D - that membership entitles you to the acquisition of documentation from the association's various libraries. Members can also vote at the general meetings, and membership includes a subscription to their online magazine.

So it sounds as though it is a mainly virtual setup, which could bode well as far as looking at these documents goes.

But as you say, no point paying in mid-November if the membership has to be renewed on the first of January.

Hang on - I've just clicked on the link there.
Membership entitles you to access to the GGRN database, to the Nord-Généalogie magazine, and the GGRN digital library. Amongst other things.

Thanks Karen.
It's looking more hopeful.
It's on the back burner to look into more fully after Christmas!  :)

I contacted the GGRN and asked if copies of the documents written by M.Champagne can be bought by a subscriber . They said yes , with 20 per cent off, they aren't digitized .
