Patrick’s birth
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1896/02185/1826983.pdf

Marriage of Patrick Miggin (father Thomas) and Kate Miggin (Molloy) https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_returns/marriages_1889/10734/5914039.pdf

Thank you...I understand those records are consistent and that it wouldn't make sense for Patrick to have born to Owen and Catherine... That is just odd that Roots Ireland has his baptism with Owen Miggin as the father, rather than Patrick, even though Owen had died.

Oh, and the Alice Miggin of Corballis whose son Owen was present at her death:
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_returns/deaths_1885/06289/4802404.pdf
She died in 1885, so she couldn't have been the mother of this Owen as he died in 1880.

So, if Alice Reynolds was his mother, her record would be the one from "Big Ballivor" and is consistent with the 1817 birthdate. But...not sure if she or any other Alice is his mother...

Ohhh. That’s right! Argh. Then maybe. I think I was just hoping to rule something out.

Could I suggest that rather than limiting the searching to one source that you also look at

Family Search
https://www.familysearch.org/en/

irish Genealogy
http://www.irishgenealogy.ie/

The NLI also has the registers for marriages and baptisms for amny of tha catholic parishes
https://registers.nli.ie/

I have found that using a variety of sources/searches is useful as some records seem to pop-up more readily than others.

I must admit, I rarely use FS for Irish records so thanks for the reminder.
I use Irish genealogy for the civil records and search initially on a subscription site for Catholic records and then to NLI.

The difficulty I have found on this search is that the parish/es involved are not covered well on NLI but are apparently on RootsIreland,  :-\

Newspapers can be very useful too but again not here.

Plus, of course, there is Griffiths Valuation and Tithe Applotments records and Calendar of Wills are also often helpful.

Thanks Heywood.....adding also the Censuses. I tend to use FS more as a finding aid then search the originals.

My finances do not permit me to use pay for sites so i do a huge amount of work using the free sites. I did use Roots ireland extensively before it went to a paid site.

I have also found Revision/Cancelled Land books good for tracking changes to land occupation.
https://www.irish-genealogy-toolkit.com/revision-books.html

I have used the PRONI online records and they are often very interesting and helpful in identifying descendants.

Unfortunately these are not online yet for the RoI. I had thought it might be good in this case.
Many years ago, the Land Registry was very helpful and I was able to purchase records at a reasonable fee but I doubt anything like that is in place now.
