Well, the Miggins are tricky. They pretty much all come from Kildalkey, Trim, Ballivor…and they generally all name their kids the same names. Haha.

Can you just clarify this please.
Owen’s residence was Corballis on his marriage
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_returns/marriages_1874/11245/8124190.pdf

His death

The children's births show Corballis.

Catherine remarried and remained there.

Who, in your family, is from Ballinvor?

Were those baptisms for Owen in Ballinvor?

I don't know who exactly in the family tree is from Ballivor. Just saying that there are Miggins in various areas and I can't locate Owen's parents. I can't find an Owen/Eugene Miggin born to James Miggin in roughly 1839.

The Owen who married Catherine Molloy is definitely the Owen in my family tree. I can see that his marriage and children's births were in Corballis.

But *if* -- and it's a big if -- Alice Reynolds and James Miggin were Owen's parents, the Alice Miggin in the Corballis death record is older than Alice Reynolds would have been. There is an Alice Reynolds from "Big Ballivor" whose age would have lined up with the birth for Alice Reynolds (1817). Looking at Owen and Catherine's marriage, it really seems like his parents were Alice Reynolds and James Miggin, but they may not have been. If not, I don't know what James Miggin was his father or who his mother was.  :(

Some times it is useful to be aware of irish naming patterns when trying to narrow down possible parents.

A traditional naming pattern was often used by Irish parents until the later 19th century:

First son usually named for the father's father
Second son usually named for the mother's father
Third son usually named for the father
Fourth son usually named for the father's eldest brother
Fifth son usually named for the mother's eldest brother
First daughter usually named for the mother's mother
Second daughter usually named for the father's mother
Third daughter usually named for the mother
Fourth daughter usually named for the mother's eldest sister
Fifth daughter usually named for the father's eldest sister.

Could you please list the children of Owen/Catherine in birth order.

ETA I have found over the years that Irish families may not have been as rigid as say the Scots in applying this birth order but it can be useful.

I have:
Ellen, born in 1875
James, 1876
Mary Anne, 1878
Eliza, 1879
Thomas, 1882
Catherine, 1886
And...Patrick, 1896
-- just realized that Catherine and Patrick were born in Ballivor!  ::)

Where do you have Ballivor?
Catherine was born to Owen and Catherine in Corbalis

Patrick was born to Patrick Miggin and Catherine (Molloy) in Corbalis

Roots Ireland search. The church baptism records say Ballivor for both of them, and Kildalkey for their previous children.

Interesting that they were baptised in Ballivor - quite a distance from Corballis, I think.
I am just wondering as Catherine was from Carnisle on her marriage which is much closer to Ballinvor.

Hmm. Pretty sure the Owen I have died in 1888, as Catherine Molloy remarried after his death. The record you found may be the son of Thomas Miggin and Anne Smyth, born in 1837. But what you found does show just how tricky it can be to sort the Miggins families.
